Black Scoria 3/16"

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Scoria is a vesicular igneous rock formed from volcanic eruptions. A denser version of pumice, but still light weight, and black in color. Because of its high surface area which provides moisture retention and aeration in planting media, scoria is an ideal soil additive.

PRODUCT USES:
Scoria is recommended for use in soil less greenhouse production mixes, where it is important to maintain a rather lightweight, aerated, well-draining soil. It can be blended into native soils where aeration and drainage needs to be improved. Scoria may also be used as an attractive low maintenance groundcover. Many model train hobbyists use scoria to simulate ballast between the train tracks. Bonsai growers also use scoria to top dress their potted plants. Scoria may also be used as an attractive, low maintenance ground cover in yards and planting areas.

PRODUCT APPLICATION:
Scoria can be blended into a custom soil mix to meet your specifications. Please call us with your detailed requirements. As a ground cover, apply to a depth of approximately 2" or more around planting areas.
